Bengers pleased to employ 3 winners of the prestigious Pro-Landscaper 30 under 30 award
There is no better way to start a new year than recognising, rewarding and promoting the rising stars in the UK’s landscaping industry with Pro Landscaper’s 30 Under 30 list. Tony Benger Landscaping is ever so pleased to announce that we even have 3 winners of this prestigious award. So please let us introduce 27 tender-winning Dan, Olivia, the commercial projects guru, and George with all his T DipArb L4 (ABC), TechArborA, MCIHort, CertArb RFS, PMICS qualifications.
To George his career in landscaping means hope for the future and an endless world of possibilities for personal and collective growth. ‘By managing all aspects of a public open space, we can improve and create pockets of high biodiversity and nature within urban areas thus improving life for all living beings in the vicinity both now and for the future. I put this in to practice through encouraging our staff to take courses, as I currently do, I have taken residents on a walk through their country park looking at the trees and woody habitats present and explaining their benefits. My wider goals are to improve and change people’s views on public open space management through learning and openness. There is so much variety in public open space management including horticultural, arboricultural, ecological, environmental, social and general management skills that through combined efforts we can ensure our open spaces are healthy, sustainable and beneficial to all living beings.’
Whereas Dan looks back at his journey and recalls ’ I took it upon myself to expand my knowledge by studying in my spare time, for example I read up on the different types of tree pits and which type would be suitable for different scenarios. I also volunteered to go on site and learn first-hand the various processes of landscaping from turfing to using underground guying kits to anchor and plant trees plus all the things in between. <...> Over the last couple of years, I have been able to develop enough familiarity with the industry, and with my customers, to comfortably advise on specification changes and improvements – to really add value to their projects.’
Oliver Hemson, our Business Manager, shares his insights about Olivia Benger: ‘What I find most surprising about Olivia is the way in which, whilst seeming to be so very laid back on the surface, she is able to rally any number of different teams across 3 counties to achieve an array of landscaping tasks, all with commercial speed. To do this whilst always having time to be approachable and amicable defies me! I recall giving Olivia a particularly tricky commercial site to run last year. Worried that I’d over-faced her I was overjoyed at her fearless approach to really push her comfort zone and problem solve – this is the unique attitude which is behind her success so far.’
This amazing trio is true positive proof that the future of TBL will be exciting and bright - a great reassurance in challenging times like these!
