Garden Design
The garden is an extension of your home and a great place to relax and spend time with family and friends. The award-winning design team at Tony Benger Landscaping can create a garden to provide you with an outdoor space to be proud of and maximise its potential for your enjoyment.
Main styles & key elements to include
A good starting point is a consideration of dominating styles. There are lots of themes you can select from, but the most common are:
- Informal cottage style
- Wildlife focused garden
- Contemporary space
- Formal style shapes & layout
- Relaxed coastal garden
- City courtyard style
- Gravel & rock garden
- Mediterranean landscaping
- Japanese garden
Alternatively, or in addition, you can focus on how you’d like to mostly use your garden - do you see your family mostly playing sports, al fresco dining, potting around between different beds and nurturing each area, lounging whilst listening to serene sounds or admiring wildlife & seasons set?
Even if you have a very vague idea of style and no specific outdoor activities in mind, you can then do some backward thinking and go through specific attributes you couldn’t imagine your garden without.
- Artificial turf
- Brick work, walling & dry stone
- Decking
- Fencing
- Patios, paving and driveways
- Ponds & water features
- Raised beds for flowers or vegetables
- Resin Bound
- Soft Landscaping
- Various garden structures
How do we progress with your garden design?
First of all, one of our designers will call you to touch base on the overall style you are trying to achieve or specific elements you would like to include. Your designer will then prepare some pictures of different finishes and relevant completed work to review with you during the meeting.
Initial meeting might last anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours to discuss your requirements, aspirations and ideas for the space. We will also take a look at the garden and chat about what can be practically achieved taking into consideration the light and shade of the border, the soil type, drainage and surrounding planting.
We will come away from the meeting and then send out confirmation of the cost to draw up a design for you with concept and mood board. The minimum prices for basic concepts start at £350, whereas detailed designs and plans start at £800.
Upon receiving confirmation that you wish to proceed; we will then book in a date for the second visit in order take an in-depth survey of the site along with photographs. It will allow us to take detailed measurements of the space and record important information regarding, existing features and plants to be kept, levels, views, soil type etc. In some cases, you may be asked to supply us with a detailed survey which would need to be carried out by an external company at an additional cost.
Many of our plans are hand drawn but supported with computer aided design too, once we have a design in place, we are more than happy to discuss the plan with you and walk the garden to help you envision the concepts we have created. At this point any alterations can be made and then a final design signed off on.
Once the design is finalised, it can be passed on to one of our senior contracts managers in order to then provide a detailed quotation for its implementation.
