Cranbrook Town, Exeter, Devon
Early in 2016 Tony Benger landscaping were appointed by the Cranbrook Consortium (Hallam Land, Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey) to remediate the partially installed landscaping and to then move on to installing and maintaining the open spaces throughout this large development.
The site has many open spaces spread throughout the town ranging from small areas of planting or grass, play parks and green lanes to a country park and an ecology park. Initially when quoting just finding our way from one managed area to another was quite a challenge in this rapidly expanding town
Many of these areas have very detailed specifications to work to and the range of work is considerable. From hedge laying to maintaining ornamental planting - Cranbrook has it all.
Initially we were working on behalf of the Cranbrook consortium although once the works were all complete and the initial phases were ready, adoption by the Town Council was scheduled. After a great deal of hard work our tender was submitted and we were delighted to be awarded a 5-year contract for the maintenance of the open spaces
With over 2,000 houses there is a considerable number of people living on site, using the country park and open spaces, which comes with its own challenges. Having the same team on site all the time is crucial to us for the smooth running of this sprawling site
We have monthly on-site meetings with the council, walking the site, highlighting the works that have been done, the works that are upcoming and discussing any issues that have arisen
This is a long running contract and is a very rewarding one to be involved with as the town and the open spaces within it grow and mature.
“Cranbrook Town Council engage Tony Benger Landscaping as the main contractor for maintenance of a great variety of public spaces within the town.
In accordance with the detailed works prescribed in a number of planning documents, in particular the Country Park management plans, which are quite specific with a range of habitats – hedges, trees, grassland, and aquatic – the company provides an excellent service. With a flexible attitude appropriate to an ever-changing and growing community, and approachable management and employees, the working relationship benefits all who are involved – most importantly of all, perhaps, the community of Cranbrook.
