Gingko - Kings Gate Community Gardens
When we were approached to be part of the Kings Gate Community Garden project, the vision was clear—to create a vibrant space where art, nature and community could come together. The project wasn’t just about enhancing a garden; it was about creating something meaningful that local people could feel part of and proud to call their own.
Commissioned by Ginkgo Projects and funded by Bloor Homes, the project sought to revitalise a former construction storage site into a thriving green space. Working alongside artist Juliet Haysom and Landscape architect Cynthia Filipiak-Szymborska, we played a key role in bringing this vision to life—ensuring the garden was not only visually striking but also sustainable, accessible, and built to the highest standards.
Our job was to transform an uneven neglected plot into a carefully contoured space that seamlessly integrated into its surroundings. We constructed pathways, seating areas and planting zones to create a visually harmonious and publicly accessible space. Executing a carefully curated planting scheme that included native wildflowers, hedgerows and trees to enhance biodiversity.
By combining our expertise in landscape construction and ecological restoration, we ensured that every element of the garden was not only aesthetically appealing, but also built to last.
Since its completion in Spring 2024, Kings Gate Community Garden has quickly become a cherished space for residents, who are actively encouraged to take part in its care and preservation. The garden now serves as a meeting place, wildlife sanctuary and community hub, demonstrating the lasting impact of thoughtful landscape design and collaboration.
The integration of art, ecology and expert landscaping, has resulted in a unique public space that will continue to inspire and thrive for generations - a project we at Tony Benger Landscaping are proud to have helped bring to life.
