What's New
Celebrating Callum's 20 Years at Tony Benger Landscaping!
We're thrilled to honour Callum, who has been an integral part of our team for two whole decades. Beginning his journey with us as a work experience placement, he has risen through the ranks to become our Training Manager. In his current role, he oversees three Trainers and manages the development of 150 staff members. Here’s a bit about his journey with us:
What initially attracted you to Tony Benger Landscaping, and what made you decide to stay for such an extended period?
"I was at college when Tony kindly offered me a summer work experience placement. I enjoyed my time here so much that I decided to stay. Tony even helped with accommodation, enabling me to remain with the company. I loved the diversity of the job - every day was different with new places, people, jobs, and skills to learn."
What do you consider the most rewarding part of your job?
"Helping new staff develop into skilled, valued members of the company. We’ve had staff and apprentices with no landscaping experience who have grown and progressed significantly within the company."
In what ways has TBL supported your personal and professional growth?
"I started as an operative, learning skills in all aspects of the company. I then went on to run large maintenance, clearance, and civil engineering projects with substantial teams. This broad experience has greatly aided my training role, allowing me to assist in all departments and relate to staff experiences."
What advice would you give to new employees joining the company?
"Ask questions and speak to other staff for advice. My experience is that our team is always willing to help and share their knowledge."
How do you envision your future with TBL, and what are your aspirations moving forward?
"Tony Benger Landscaping has experienced unprecedented geographic expansion over the last five years, and we are now outgrowing the South West region. For instance, we added a new team in Oxford that undertakes projects in Birmingham as well as continuously delivering landscaping services as far afield as Cardiff and Eastbourne. Seeing these developments unfold, my main aspiration is to keep growing ‘TBL Academy’ to ensure that all our staff are fully enabled to deliver to the exact same Benger-approved standards, regardless of location. For me, it is so fulfilling to see that our new programme is being enrolled and well received, as each employee has a clear path for progression. In the future, I can see us constantly enriching the training programme and resources."
Callum adds, "I have enjoyed the last 20 years and it has been amazing to see how the company has changed and grown into what it is today."
Thank you, Callum, for your dedication and hard work. Here's to many more successful decades together! 🎉
