Garden Walling and Brick Work
Elevate your garden with a walling project
Walling is an attractive way to bring up levels and a fresh perspective within an existing garden design. It can partition up your outdoor spaces for different uses as well as draw attention to a beautiful focal point. It is also a way to add value to your property with a neat lasting finish and structural strength that will remain within your garden as the years go by. Landscaping experts at Tony Benger have prepared a brief overview of different types of garden walling to help plan your next project.
Dry Stone Walling
Dry stone walling is the art of constructing a stone wall without the use of mortar. It dates back thousands of years and is predominantly, but not exclusively, found in areas where large quantities of stone exist naturally within the landscape. Working with local stone can enhance the look of your garden whilst enabling it to sit beautifully within the surrounding landscape.
At Tony Benger Landscaping we carefully select stones to interlock with each other to create well-built, attractive, feature walls out of the stone of your choice.
One of the benefits of dry-stone walling is that the nature of its construction means that it is self-draining, allowing water to pass naturally through it’s open joints.
Dry stone walling can be used in a number of situations; it can serve as retention, mark boundaries, or create raised planting beds.
Mortared Stone Walling
Whilst mortared stone walling is sometimes not seen as precise an operation as dry-stone walling, It still remains a highly skilled task where stone selection is all important in creating the right appearance.
Our experienced stone masons can construct mortared stone walls using a variety of different stone. They regularly use local lime stone like Purbeck, Hamstone or Blue Lias, but, are just as proficient in the construction of walls using Flint, Granite, or Slate. Whichever look you desire for your walling, Tony Benger Landscaping can help you achieve this.
As with dry stone walling, mortared stone walling can be used in many applications, however, due to the stone being bound together with mortar it has a greater strength and so is the natural choice for larger retention projects. Our operatives at Tony Benger Landscaping can construct your mortared stone wall whilst assessing and carrying out any associated drainage requirements for this type of construction.
Brick & Block Walling
>If the style of your home does not lend itself to natural stonework, then Tony Benger Landscaping can just as easily transform your space using either brickwork or block work.
>With brickwork, or rendered block work being commonly encountered construction methods nowadays, it is often a requirement to continue with this style throughout the garden. At Tony Benger Landscaping one of our experienced contracts managers can guide you through aspects such as brick matching and mortar colours to ensure you get just the look you are after.
