Luppitt Courtyard Garden
The client brief for this Devon garden was to soften and bring to life a large gravel area surrounded by the house and guest accommodation. The focal point of the design was 6 large brick planters with natural sandstone paving to enhance the front entrance. We supplied brick samples to the client to get the best match to the house bricks. We were informed that a lot of drainage pipes criss-crossed the area where we needed to create concrete foundations. Nick and his team used their expertise with some careful excavation and the use of lintels to bridge existing drainage. Levels and footings were established and single brick walls built to create the planters. The capping bricks were set with an overhang to create shadow and give a 3D effect. The planting used standard hollies to frame the door and pseudoacacia twisty baby with clipped box and mixed planting to give all year round colour and interest.
Since the successful completion of this project the client has appointed us to develop further planting areas to another side of the house and to rejuvenate a level lawn area for sports use.
